DR. MARK SCHLESINGER

EDUCATION

Dr. Mark Schlesinger received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry , where he graduated at the top of his class. He was elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and graduated with distinction as the recipient of the Quintessence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Periodontics.

Dr. Schlesinger went on to complete an additional three years of extensive specialty training in the prestigious Advanced Education Program in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the New York University College of Dentistry.

As a result of his exemplary leadership skills, he was elected as the Chief Resident of the residency program and upon graduation was honored with both the Leadership and Clinical Excellence Awards, historically given to two graduates, rather than one.

After completing specialty training, Dr. Schlesinger became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology . A Diplomate is a periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

He is also a Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute , a distinction given to dentists who have demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of lasers and their applications in dentistry, as well as a commitment to the advancement of laser dentistry. Dr. Schlesinger is also licensed in the State of New York to perform conscious sedation.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Dr. Schlesinger founded and currently serves as the President of the New York Academy of Collaborative Dentistry . This professional organization provides a forum for dentists and dental specialists in NYC to gather and share knowledge and offers its members the opportunity to earn continuing education credits.

As a pioneer and recognized expert on advanced laser dentistry, Dr. Schlesinger is frequently invited by professional organizations to lecture on the topic.

He is a Clinical Assistant Professor on both the graduate and post-graduate level at the New York University College of Dentistry, where he also teaches the courses Introduction to Periodontics and Suturing 101 to post-graduate residents.

Dr. Schlesinger has been identified as one of Americas Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America. He is an active member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the Northeastern Society of Periodontists, the World Clinical Laser Institute, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, the New York State Dental Association and the New York County Dental Society.

As a volunteer with the Donated Dental Services program in New York, Dr. Schlesinger provides free dental services for disadvantaged individuals, such as the disabled, elderly or medically compromised, who cannot afford treatment nor obtain public aid.
